Biography

Lynette is a media professional, conservationist, ecologist and science communicator.

After years of searching the rainforests for frogs, Dr. Lynette Plenderleith left the swamps of scientific research. Her love of television and film led her to a career in factual media production. With a Ph.D. in Australian frogs, a Masters degree in salamander ecology and a knack of interpreting science for the general public, Lynette has been much in demand from productions seeking to install scientific rigour with creative flair. Lynette’s metamorphosis from scientist to media freelancer has included forays into science comedy, live performance and podcasting. She is Founder and Chair of Frogs Victoria, Vice President of Australian Science Communicators and advisor to student science communication program Let’s Torque. Lynette still feeds her addiction to wildlife biology by working part-time and temporary contracts in scientific research.

Lynette has amassed vast experience in wildlife biology and zoology during her professional life. She has studied animals and plants across the globe, from the rainforests of Indonesia, Honduras and Australia, to the wetlands of Scotland and New Zealand and the suburban streams of Baltimore, USA. More recently she has worked as a Presenter at Sea Life Melbourne Aquarium, Twisted Science and Minibeast Wildlife. She made the switch to film and television in pursuit of a lifelong dream to enamour her audiences with the natural world in the name of conservation.

Most at home in the wild, Lynette counts birdwatching, snorkelling and hiking amongst her hobbies.
